2026-09-30: A Wells Fargo analyst note questioned AppLovin's e-commerce growth. Wells Fargo found that AppLovin adds about 220 merchant sites a week, and about 85% of new sites show no measurable traffic. It does not expect real e-commerce growth before 2027. The stock fell about 5% that day. 2026-09-29: AppLovin asked the San Francisco Superior Court for a temporary restraining order against Unity. AppLovin alleges that Unity's Ad Quality software kit collected data on ads that AppLovin served through its MAX platform, to train Unity's own ad models. AppLovin also started an arbitration claim against Unity. Unity rejected the claims and called the suit a response to more competition. 2026-09-23: Edgewater Research analyst Joe Wittine warned AppLovin's market-share growth has stalled, projecting only 9% sequential Q4 revenue growth as its MAX platform nears a functional ceiling, and named Unity as a growing competitive threat. AppLovin stock fell about 4-6% that day. 2026-09-18: A securities fraud class action was filed against AppLovin and certain executives, covering purchasers from February 12, 2026 through August 5, 2026. It alleges the company overstated how consistently its AI models were improving and understated development delays in its generative AI video tool. 2026-08-06: The stock fell 19.7% (from $417.80 to $335.67) the day after Q2 2026 earnings, when AppLovin disclosed its generative AI video ad tool was 'still a work in progress' and revenue missed consensus estimates. 2026-08-05: AppLovin reported Q2 2026 revenue of $1.92 billion, up 53% from last year but below the $1.94 billion analysts expected. The company also disclosed its generative AI video ad tool was still a work in progress, and said the SEC had closed its separate 2025 data-practices investigation with no action. The stock fell 19.7% the next day. 2026-07-13: A Bank of America analyst published a note flagging soft e-commerce growth for AppLovin in June 2026, using third-party data, while still calling the stock's recent selloff overdone. 2025-10-06: News broke that the SEC had opened an investigation into AppLovin's data-collection practices, following a series of short-seller reports.
